• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed was somewhat disappointed in himself that he knew exactly what the proper response to that jab would be, yet there was a measure of pride in how brazen he knew he'd have to be to say it. To use a human adage, fuck it. Without even missing a beat, not needing to look back at her as he sped...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed came to a realization, sighing as he understood. Surely the ship above had the ability to show her the feeds, unless compartmentalization was so important. With a sigh he responded, "No, the danger is passed. Amisra was never in direct danger, for I fended it off with the help of our Drone...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed's smile at Amisra faded, partly out of a sobering realization that she knew he'd seen something, and partly out of worry that she might have seen something too. The glint in her eyes, it was something intangible, and yet understandable. He spoke softly back to her. "I'll tell all on the...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

KB walked onward, allowing his presence to speak for itself as the tall, dark and robotic doctor made himself seen. Behind him was a smaller version of him, eyes dim, following like a puppet as KB looked about. "Cad, unless you want to spend hours getting it right, we will take the Shuttle. Much...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed had paused for a fraction of a second as thoughts invaded his mind, images and feelings and... history coursed through him. Was this the gift of the machine? A side effect of whatever fell will kept it moving? Something inside him reacting to it's touch? On instinct, reflex, he kicked...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"I'm slower than you so you don't get killed!" Gwaed replied with a hiss, not in the joking mood as danger descended on them. His pistol had shown him a relative weak point, severing metallic fibers from the neck of the machine, so he could move against it as such. A large metallic hand was...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

"Yes yes," the machine doctor said dismissively. "Curse you for being robotically helpful. I'll ensure the relevant personnel are requisitioned, though the usual team may be... qualified for other positions. Regardless, we'll set out soon." He reached a long arm down and pat the little droid...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

Dr. Knowledgebot had been trying to construct the plans for further advanced machines, which had taken far more time than he'd expected. In blissful creation he'd been left alone, on designs for a machine to assist in the theatre of war, when the tiny machine had rolled in. Knowledgebot looked...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed stood stock still, watching the machine move with a predator gaze. This was unexpected, and so Gwaed never let his eyes leave it. He pulled his blade from his back, pulling his pistol from his side. "Damnit." One hand stretched out in front of Amisra, taking a single pace forward. "This is...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

With a soft grumble, Gwaed spent a millisecond looking for something to say in response to her teasing, before arriving at the perfect response. "Well, you've never seemed to mind." With a self-serving cheeky smile he began to follow the proposed directions, directions left by their ancestors...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed's gloved hand settled on her suited shoulder, catching her eyes in the visor and smiling with a measure of reassurance towards her. "Ami," he chuckled, "You're worrying a rather sensible amount, dear, to balance myself and my excitement." He, despite the visor in his way, continued to look...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed's heart was beating quickly, his eyes wide as he delved deeper into history. The contents of this room was something any historian would kill for, like the old archeologists of human media who also were trained in firearms. He could barely keep himself from running his hands over the...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

His breath picked up, catching himself staring at the wall. He turned to Amisra, face broken in a wide smile. "It's still here! Ami," he said with a laugh, "it took from the suit's power. The building itself is present, I felt my heart flare!" He gestured her closer, pointing to the wall. "Touch...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed took it upon himself to stride in front, eyes moving about to take in everything he could see. He brushed his hand along the walls, gloved as it was, he still yearned to feel history under his fingertips. "The architecture is ours, no doubt about it. Similar to places at home, before home...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed had been privy to much of what Amisra had watched, and found the human interpretation of space to be far more enjoyable than the real thing. They knew what space sounded like, and they pretended anyway. He understood why they did it: humans, like the Aos Si, do not live in a vacuum. Sound...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed was already itching to get to work, to be one of the first people to venture into a lost site, and then plunder it of it's knowledge. Much would be gained, and there would be little doubt that their work would benefit the Aos Si generations after his own. Or at the very least, they'd have...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed, full name Gwaedcryf Hewyllys anorchfygol, stood regally in slim clothes, all the better to quickly put the space suit on should the need arise. He did allow himself his sword at his side, not usual space technology, but far too valuable to leave in his home. A tall man, magnificently pale...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed knew her eyes, he knew her thoughts to an extent, and so in a playful manner jabbed a finger into her ribs. "We must keep it safe, if we're to actually go through with this. We'd need money, ships, crew, I'd get to wear my space armor," he said with a laugh. "Ahh, goodness, an adventure...

Gwaed's eyes were widened, looking at the wall as memories flooded through his mind. "It's been soo long since I've felt anything like this," he said with a smile. With that same wide smile he turned to Amisra, holding the artifact forward towards her. "Ami," he said fondly, "Take it. Feel it."...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed would be kind to Shu Yang just as he would to her husband, something he felt they'd fully earned from him, his respect. "It is ironic that it's in the company of others that we can finally have some privacy," he chuckled. He was more than ready to eat the meal, the cooking well known to...
