• Nobles of Null is a forum based roleplay site where sci-fi and magic collide. Here, Earth remains fractured and divided despite humanity reaching out to the stars. Worse still, the trans-human slaves of one major power have escaped, only to establish their own Empire, seething with resentment at abuses of the past. Even the discovery of aliens, though medieval in development, has failed to rally these squabbling children of Earth together with its far darker implications. Worse still, is the discovery of the impossible - magic. Practiced by the alien locals, nearly depleted and therefore rare, its reality warping abilities remains abstract and distant to the general populace. All the while, unseen in the darkness of space, forces from without threaten to press in. For those with eyes opened by insight, it is clear that an era is about to end, and that a new age will dawn.

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

While their suits would protect them from the radiation, at least Gwaed was fairly certain of that, he didn't want to chance it by spending too much time here. He moved forward, towards the globe, just to see if that was the source of the unseen energy. There were more of those half-dead...

    Pearl of Heaven

Fang Zhao gathered information and noted it, marking it in folders in their digital world. Later he'd write it down on more primitive technology, just in case the worst happens and the Daqin lose their precious Otherworld. "My family would no doubt prefer I were not here, however I prefer real...

    Pearl of Heaven

"Understood." The separation between the real world and the virtual world was one Fang Zhao had always struggled with. He'd grown up in it, saw how the Empire moved to make the distinction meaningless. Even on this planet, especially on this planet, the virtual world was an escape and a tool...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"Their machines are old and ragged." Gwaed said with a huff. "Had they been prepared, and juiced to full, we would be in far greater danger. All the better. We've more to see, and they're in our way." Gwaed, sword and pistol still in hand, stepped over the broken metal bodies and continued on.

    Pearl of Heaven

"The trip here was the easy part," the serpent hissed as he slithered along. He was armed only with a sidearm and a decent protection suit. He was not a combatant, but as per The Empire's existence he was still capable of damage. Hopefully that would be remotely enough to get him through these...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

Dr. KB's machine eyes looked over the women here, unsure of why they'd even bother to present themselves. A guide would be useful, yes, but he certainly didn't need them for anything else. Hopefully these women were well paid, each carefully designed to appeal to people with certain types. He...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed had a more in-depth understanding of the history of shooting things, from several different Histories, but the concept remained similar throughout. What made the difference was how one used it. Gwaed used it by firing at the machine's joints, their legs, to bring them to a crashing stumble...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

Dr. Knowledgebot admittedly enjoyed the prestige of such expensive companions, even if that wasn't his goal at the time of gaining them as such. It would be him here, however, and as such would be utilized to the fullest. He might have to redo a mortgage on a minute factory, but honestly how...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

It took barely a second for Dr. Knowledgebot to filter out the advertisements from his sight, flagged as cyber attacks and spam. The smaller KB, however, had a more troubled time. Like a flood of excess information, they audibly whined as a way to express, somehow, the annoyance that bordered on...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

"Greetings," KB returned to the greeter. Behind him his protégé and creation peered with unending curiosity at the station, taking in information rapidly to understand the location. KB kept talking. "We're on official business, my second," he gestured to 544, "Takes order from me directly. They...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed has reason to worry, looking to Amisra as the machine drank her suits energy greedily. "What's your suit power at? The last thing we need is you dying in a terribly embarrassing way," he joked, but the message was clear. Are you okay? Do we need to return? As he waited for whatever...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed gave a disappointed huff, looking back at his fellow Aos Si, about to speak but watching her focus. He nearly chuckled, stifling a smile by looking back at the unpowered console. She hadn't had need to focus like that for... centuries. It reminded him of older times, better times. He...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

KB-120 gave a slow, practiced shrug. He had no issue with people without clothes, he was a doctor of half a dozen fields and among them was medicine. "Perhaps you'd prefer to lay low, to appear as yet another lost Chongwu on the streets of a station. Perhaps you want to pretend to be a secret...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

"Maybe a mana-based hibernation, or..." Gwaed walked around, looking for danger but his eyes were brought to the cold caskets around them. "Perhaps, when power faded from the world, they hid themselves away. Awaiting it's return perhaps? Seems a fool's errand," he added. looking for controls of...

Gwaed gave a sigh, and walked forward. "In due time, my dear," he said to Amisra, "There will be time enough for research later." With a swift movement, he brought his blade down to decapitate the machine. "There we go. Now I feel better." With the issue dealt with, he motioned the drones to...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

KB-544 stared back at Schwoomy, their head tilted to the left. Three eyes stared ahead at the bat-form, information being slowly (for a machine at least) fed to them by their creator on the nature of the Chongwu. Eventually, a cheery voice that mimicked the utter excitement of Z-23 spilled from...

"Fascinating." Gwaed, as was typical, was not hiding in anyway. Sure the drones were programmed to defend them, but they alone stood between him and the machine. He and they had killed the last one, and this one seemed even smaller. He pulled his weapons out, waiting for the machine to move...

Book 2, Chapter 1: Approaching Darkness

The machine professor would have smiled if allowed the function, more than happy to see the Echoni. "Z-23," he said with warmth in the robotic voice. "It is good to witness your continued existence. Allow me, all of you, to provide the mission." KB extended their arm, letting information take...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed gave a nod in turn to the fellow warrior, smiling as he felt pride swell in his chest. He clamped it down, it would be unbecoming to be too prideful, but the compliment did resonate with him. "Between Humanity's machines and our ability, I think we'll be fine regardless." Remembering...

Day in the Life: Aos Si Ruins on Jing

Gwaed was in the same room, gazing upon the choices available to them. More ammunition for his gun, another gun to add to it's number, and his sword receiving a good sharpening. Alas, not from Amisra. "I concur," he responded to the redheaded elf, placing similar tools on his person. "I do...
